Why improvisation, and not a script.
Most speech apps measure how you sound. The freeze is not about how you sound.
What is usually trained
- Delivery: filler words, pace, volume.
- A written scenario, played the same way each time.
- A score after a talk you prepared.
What Molvi trains
- Talking when you do not know what is coming.
- Structure in muscle memory, which is what makes improvising possible.
- A partner that answers your last line, never a script.
What improv research shows
Studies of improv practice, not trials of this app.
- Twenty minutes of improv exercises raised tolerance for not knowing what comes next, in two experiments with matched control groups. Felsman, Gunawardena & Seifert, 2020. Thinking Skills and Creativity 35:100632.
- Among adolescents selected for signs of social phobia, improv training was followed by lower social anxiety. Felsman, Seifert & Himle, 2019; Felsman et al., 2022. The Arts in Psychotherapy.
- Improv training increases how many different options a person produces, against a control group. Lewis & Lovatt, 2013. Thinking Skills and Creativity.
The analysis is the product.
Not a score out of ten. A take, marked where something happened, with one move per mark.

So today was like mostly the deadline. 1.8 s I kept rewriting the same three sentences until they stopped meaning anything, and I hated that I couldn't just say the thing.
I got coffee, came back, you know, still nothing. 2.4 s Then Marina read it back to me and the fix was obvious in four seconds. I want to hear it that way the first time, without needing somebody in the room.
2 landed 2 authenticity 1 imagery 9 fillers 4 long pauses
Strengths
- You said what you wanted, not only what happened.
- The ending came back to the deadline you opened with.
To improve
- Cut the run-ups; they blur the focus. There were 9, mostly “like”.
- Long pauses: 4, the longest 2.4 s. Trimming them keeps the listener on the thread.
An example take, written for this page.
Every exercise is built on published research.
Each trains something a live conversation asks of you: holding the thread, finding a word, standing your ground. That is where confidence comes from. New ones join the set as they are built.

How much does it cost, and when am I charged?
The first 7 days are free, one free week per person. A card is attached when you start and nothing is charged that day. We remind you 24 hours before the first charge; on day 8 it is $3.99 weekly or $69.99 yearly, then each period until you cancel.
How do I cancel?
Profile → Cancel subscription. One tap, no questions. Everything stays open until the end of the period you paid for. Cancel during the free week and you are never charged.
Can I get a refund?
Write to us within 14 days of a charge and we refund it, no reason needed. Beyond that we look at what happened. Full policy: refunds and cancellation.
I go blank when someone asks me something. Will this help?
We cannot promise you a result, and anyone who does is selling something. What we can say is what it is built on: going blank is what not knowing what comes next does to you, and that is what improv practice trains. Molvi puts you there for a minute a day, alone, where a bad take costs nothing.
Is this therapy, or treatment for social anxiety?
No. Molvi does not diagnose, treat or assess anything, and the analysis comments on the speech in a recording, never on the person who made it. The approach draws on improv research, some of it about social anxiety; that is a mechanism we build on, not a claim about you. If speaking is hard enough to be affecting your life, a professional is the right call.
What happens to my recordings?
A recording is uploaded, transcribed and analysed to build the report, then kept so you can reopen it. No human at Molvi listens as part of the normal flow, and it is never shown to anyone else. Details, and how to have it all deleted: privacy policy.
Which languages does it work in?
English and Russian. Exercises, prompts and analysis all follow your choice.
The free week is free. The first take is 90 seconds.
Nobody is listening in. You talk, you read what came back.
